The RB engine is derived from the six-cylinder L20A engine, which has the same bore and stroke as the RB20.
The engine is popular in Australia and New Zealand for Campbell drag and track racing, as an alternative to the R31 Skyline, and in other cars. Nissan Special Motors Australia is producing two limited edition R31 Skylines: the GTS1 and GTS2.
Both cars stay on the more powerful RB30E engine. The special edition RB30 also uses longer intake camshafts and better exhaust emissions;
