A model of the legendary Yamato in scale 1:200.
The model represents the equipment state of April 1945, when the ship left the port with a small escort fleet to fight a hopeless battle to defend Okinawa against the US fleet.
The Yamato was the largest battleship ever built, displacing over 72,000 tons and its main artillery consisted of nine 46cm guns (18 inch)
On April 7, 1945, on the march to Okinawa, 386 carrier planes attacked in several waves, the Americans scored 13 torpedo hits and eight heavy bomb hits. Finally the Yamato capsized and an explosion of the forward magazine tore the ship apart.
The Yamato marks the climax as well as the end of the battleship era.
The turrets and rangefinders are rotatable and the gun barrels can be aimed at height.
The deck and superstructure can be removed.
There is an aircraft hangar in the stern.

Ein Modell der legendären Yamato im Maßstab 1:200.
Das Modell stellt den Ausrüstungszustand von April 1945 dar, als das Schiff mit einer kleinen Begleitflotte den Hafen verließ um eine aussichtslose Schlacht zur Verteidigung von Okinawa gegen die US-Flotte zu führen.
Die Yamato war das das größte Schlachtschiff welches jemals gebaut wurde, sie verdrängte über 72.000t und ihre Hauptartillerie bestand aus neun 46cm Geschützen.
Am 07. April 1945 wurde sie auf dem Marsch nach Okinawa 386 Trägerflugzeugen in mehreren Wellen angegriffen, die Amerikaner erzielten 13 Torpedotreffer und acht schwere Bombentreffer. Zum Schluss kenterte die Yamato und eine Explosion des vorderen Magazins zerriss das Schiff in zwei Teile.
Die Yamato markiert den Höhepunkt als auch das Ende der Schlachtschiff-Ära.
